The Brief
In December 2022, Art Basel Miami Beach hired Drone Genius for one specific assignment: FPV cinematography for the Unboxing series, a behind-the-scenes look at flagship works arriving at the fair.
Two works. Two shoots. One chance to prove the aerial unit could operate inside one of the world's most prestigious contemporary art fairs without getting in the way of the art, the installers, the brand, or the story.
The ask was not to capture a few generic aerials. The ask was controlled FPV movement that could carry weight, scale, anticipation, and reveal inside a sensitive cultural environment.
What We Delivered
Both Unboxing pieces were published on Art Basel's official YouTube channel. The movement had to feel intentional, quiet, and production-aware: close enough to make the viewer feel present, controlled enough to respect the artwork and the pace of the installation.
From FPV Shoot To Full Content Partner
The 2022 shoots earned a return call. The next phase expanded beyond FPV into artist interview production, then into full fair content production: drone coverage of the fair floor, sector-specific editorial, and artist interviews.
By 2024, the flagship drone tour became one of Art Basel's most visible video pieces from the fair, crossing more than 125,000 views on the official brand channel.

Why Production Teams Bring Us Back
High-end aerial work is not just aircraft choice. It is pre-production, airspace planning, control around talent and art handlers, clean framing, exposure discipline, and knowing when FPV helps the story instead of becoming the story.
